Clinical Services
Childhood Immunisations
Please make an appointment with nurse Iris on Thursday afternoon for childhood
immunisations.
The current schedule is:
2 months - DTaP/HiB/IPV, PCV
3 months - DTaP/HiB/IPV, Men C
4 months - DTaP/HiB/IPV, Men C, PCV
1 year - HiB/Men C
1 year 1 month - MMR, PCV
3 years 4 months - DTaP/HiB/IPV, MMR
Asthma/COPD Clinic
Dr. Bolade & Dr. Otuguor are available for Asthma or COPD checks on Monday or
Wednesday afternoons. If you are a patient with either ailment, there is a need
for an annual review. You will normally be seen by Nurse Isabel before seeing
the GP when you attend for your appointment.
Blood Tests
Both nurses are available to take blood samples every morning except Saturdays
by appointment.
Smoking Cessation
Our Practice Nurse Iris provides smoking cessation advice every morning from
Monday to Friday and Monday and Thursday evening by appointment.
Travel Advice
If you are travelling abroad please fill out our travel health questionnaire at
least 3 weeks before your departure, and make an appointment with one of our
practice nurses Iris or Isabel. They will asses which vaccination you had/need
and give advice on health issues. Additionally, you may want to visit
www.fitfortravel.co.uk.
Weight Loss Advice
If you would like help with weight loss please make an appointment with Nurse
Iris. She will assess you and give diet and exercise advice. She will monitor
you over a period of time to help you through your weight loss programme.
CVD Risk Assessment
If you fit into the following categories and would like to know your risk of
developing a cardiovascular disease, please book an appopintment with nurse Iris
any morning for an assessment and blood test (fasting).
Over 40 years of age
Not Diabetic
No history of stroke/TIA/Heart attack
No cardiovascular disease
BMI greater than 30
Antenatal
If you are pregnant please make an appointment with any GP for the antenatal
booking. You can choose to have your antenatal care in the hospital (eg. St.
Georges, St. Thomas', Kings, Mayday), with the GPs (on Thursday mornings), or
shared between them. We do not need you to be confirmed as pregnant by the
surgery staff prior to booking your appointment with the GP. All 1st antenatals
are seen in a general clinic throughout the week, by appointment.
Postnatal
Dr. Masterton is available on Wednesday afternoon by appointment to check mothers
and their baby postnatally when the baby is 8 weeks old. The practice nurse will
then also give the first childhood immunisation and make follow up appointments.
Please contact us 3 weeks prior to when this is due.
Contraception
Depoprevera injections and oral contraceptives are available from Nurse Iris by
appointment, oral contraceptives are not available as a repeat prescription. IUD
fitting and implants are available from Gracefield Gardens Family Planning
Clinic. Emergency contraceptives are available from the Pharmacist at Prentis
Pharmacy, via the Family Planning Clinic at 41A-C Streatham Hill or the GP.
Counselling
Counselling is provided at the practice 2 days per week by a qualified
counsellor. If you feel you need to use this service, please book an appointment
with the GP to be referred.
Help with Drug and Alcohol Problems
Advice about drugs and alchohol problems are available through Dr. Thomson by
appointment.
Womens Health
Nurse Iris is happy to see you regarding any issues you have with your
well-being by appointment.
Cervical Screening
Smears are routinely checked every 3 years in Lambeth unless you have had a
previous result that has shown as abnormal. You will be recalled automatically
from the Health Authority for your test every 3 years. You will need to contact
the surgery and book an appointment with either of the nurses. It takes
approximately 6 - 8 weeks for results to be posted to you directly to your home.
Please ensure we have your up-to-date address.
Pre-contraceptive advice
If you are thinking about starting a family, please book an appointment with
Nurse Iris.
Diabetes/Warfarin Care
The surgery has a well established Diabetic Clinic. This is held by all four GPs
in rotation each Tuesday. For your annual review you will need to have a blood
test (fasting) at least 2 weeks before you see the GP in this particular clinic
which is taken by either of the nurses.
Warfarin is also managed on a weekly basis for patients with blood tests taken
primarily by Nurse Isabel by appointment.
